Summary

MTA2 expression is significantly higher in colorectal cancer (CRC) tissues and linked to poorer prognosis. This suggests MTA2 is a key biomarker for CRC progression and a potential therapeutic target.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the association between MTA2 expression and the presence, development, metastasis, and prognosis of colorectal cancer.
  • To evaluate MTA2 as a potential prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target in CRC.

Main Methods:

  • Tissue microarrays were created from 90 paired colorectal cancer and adjacent normal tissues.
  • MTA2 expression was quantified using immunohistochemical analysis.
  • Statistical analysis (SPSS) correlated MTA2 expression with clinical indicators and patient survival.

Main Results:

  • MTA2 expression was significantly elevated in colorectal cancer tissues compared to adjacent tissues (P < 0.001).
  • MTA2 expression positively correlated with tumor grade (r(2) > 0, P < 0.01).
  • Higher MTA2 expression in cancer tissues independently predicted poor prognosis in CRC patients (P = 0.004).

Conclusions:

  • MTA2 is a significant biomarker closely associated with colorectal cancer prognosis.
  • MTA2 represents a potential molecular target for improving the prognosis and treatment of CRC.
