U@C28: the electronic structure induced by the 32-electron principle

First principles calculations reveal that neutral U@C28 exhibits a (cage)(2) ground state with Td symmetry, challenging the previously accepted (5f)(1)(cage)(1) state. This finding is attributed to its 34 valence electrons adhering to the 32-electron principle.
