Purpose of the Study:

To explore the multifaceted influences on case management practice within the Australian community aged care sector.
To identify key factors impacting the daily work of community aged care case managers.

Main Methods:

Conducted 33 semistructured interviews with 47 community aged care case managers in Victoria, Australia.
Utilized a multilevel framework (structural, organizational, case manager, client, practice factors) for data analysis.
Employed thematic analysis to identify significant influences on practice.

Main Results:

Policy changes significantly shape case management practice.
Organizational culture, policies, and available case management models are critical influences.
Case manager professional backgrounds and client characteristics (e.g., culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds) also impact practice.
A multilevel framework effectively guides the analysis of practice influences.
