Objective:
To document the role of digital tomosynthesis (DTS) in the evaluation and treatment of orthopaedic trauma patients.
Design:
Retrospective case series.
Setting:
Level 1 trauma center with nonunion referral patient population.
Participants:
Four orthopaedic trauma patients with musculoskeletal injuries.
Intervention:
Three revision surgical procedures and 1 conservative treatment for patients with periprosthetic fractures or nonunions.
Results:
DTS successfully visualized 2 nonunions, 1 refracture, and 1 arthrodesis.
Main Outcome Measure:
Documented fracture or nonunion on imaging.
Conclusions:
DTS has the potential to be of significant value in the detection and follow-up of fractures.
Level Of Evidence:
Diagnostic Level IV. See Instructions for Authors for a complete description of levels of evidence.

Computed Tomography
The technique was invented in the 1970s and is based on the principle that as X-rays pass through the body, they are absorbed or reflected at different levels. In the technique, a patient lies on a motorized platform while a computerized axial tomography (CAT) scanner rotates...
