[Prevalence study of oral mucosal lesions in 300 patients]

Intraoral examination was performed in 300 consecutive patients, who attended the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Free University Hospital, Amsterdam. In 89% of the patients one or more oral mucosal lesions were observed. Fordyce's spots, coated tongue, leukoedema, melanin pigmentation, frictional keratosis, and morsicatio buccarum were the most frequent occurring lesions.
