Hip fracture in the patient with Parkinson's disease

Although treatment of the parkinsonian with hip fracture has progressed because of more effective operative intervention, the prognosis is not nearly as good as for the patient without parkinsonism. The patient's personal physician needs to be aware of possible complications, and the family should be made aware of the seriousness of the problem.
