Structural and functional features of a developmentally regulated lipopolysaccharide-binding protein

This study reveals a novel lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP) in squid that triggers symbiont-induced development. Unlike mammalian LBPs, its expression is induced by peptidoglycan, not LPS, highlighting diverse roles in symbiosis.
