HLA-DR expression on monocytes is decreased in polytraumatized patients

Post-traumatic immune response shows reduced HLA-DR expression on monocytes, returning to normal by day 14. This immune marker did not differ significantly between patients with or without sepsis, SIRS, or MODS.

- Monocyte HLA-DR expression may serve as a marker for the pro- or anti-inflammatory state following trauma.
