Hyperbilirubinaemia: its utility in non-perforated appendicitis

Serum bilirubin shows higher specificity than C-reactive protein (CRP) and white cell count (WCC) for diagnosing appendicitis. This cheap biochemical test is particularly useful for identifying simple appendicitis, offering a high positive predictive value.
