Summary
Electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy for small lung nodules is difficult. Using DynaCT scans in a hybrid operating theatre improves navigation and biopsy success for these challenging lesions.
Area of Science:
- Pulmonology
- Medical Imaging
- Interventional Pulmonology
Background:
- Biopsy of small pulmonary nodules via electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy (EMNB) presents challenges.
- Navigational inaccuracies and tool movement during deployment reduce biopsy success rates.
- Conventional imaging like fluoroscopy and radial endobronchial ultrasound are limited for small lesions.
