Adiponectin: An Endothelium-Derived Vasoprotective Factor?

Adiponectin, an adipokine, is produced beyond adipose tissue, particularly by the endothelium. This endothelium-derived adiponectin offers vasoprotective effects and may be a novel target for cardiovascular disease treatment.
