[Late results of conservative treatment methods in closed sinus injuries]

Posttraumatic inflammations of the maxillary sinus are relatively rare in closed injuries. Clinical and radiographic followup examinations of patients with midfacial fractures showed that a revision of the antrum for the purpose of infection prophylaxis is not necessary and that active intervention should be performed only in case of clinically manifest maxillary sinusitis.
