[Synovial chondromatosis of the temporomandibular joint]

Synovial chondromatosis of the temporomandibular joint is a relatively rare disorder. The diagnosis is often difficult because of the untypical clinical symptoms and an absence of radiological abnormalities. On the basis of a case report, the clinico-pathological, roentgenological and surgical features are discussed. After adequate surgical exploration with synovectomy the patient became symptom-free.
