Summary

Corticosteroids may significantly slow the destructive progression of rheumatoid arthritis, a role often underestimated. Further research into novel corticosteroid delivery methods is recommended for improved rheumatoid arthritis management.

Background:

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by joint inflammation and destruction.
Current management strategies aim to control inflammation and prevent joint damage, but disease modification remains a key challenge.

To present evidence supporting a disease-modifying role for corticosteroids in rheumatoid arthritis.
To advocate for a re-evaluation of corticosteroid utilization in rheumatoid arthritis treatment.
