Hepatitis B virus (HBV) preS/S mutants are key "precursor lesions" in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development. Targeting these mutants and hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) with antivirals and antioxidants offers comprehensive prevention and treatment strategies for HBV-associated HCC.
