[Dermatology - the key to ensure a good long term clinical response]
Abstract:
After efficacy and safety have been used for many years to evaluate therapies and treatment success in medicine, patient reported outcomes are now increasingly being incorported in this process. This trend acknowledges that patient adherence is a prerequisit for the good long-term outcome of a treatment. In the field of dermatology, namely for psoriasis, current guidelines already recommend to base clinical decision-making on a combination of objective as well as patient-reported outcomes. These parameters provide the basis for the concept of happy drug survival, building on the belief that a good quality of life reflects meaningful treatment success from the patient's point of view, motivating him to carry on with the therapy.
