Perianal stapled prolapse resection (PSP) offers good early functional results for rectal prolapse. This safe and fast procedure shows a favorable recurrence rate compared to other perineal techniques.

  • Significant improvements were observed in Wexner incontinence scores (10 to 5) and obstructive defaecation syndrome scores (12 to 5) post-surgery (P < 0.001).
  • Median operating time was 48 minutes, with a 14.8% recurrence rate at 30.3 months follow-up. Early and late complication rates were 22.2% and 7.4%, respectively.

Conclusions:

  • Perianal stapled prolapse resection (PSP) is presented as an easy, fast, and safe surgical option.
