EuroSCORE II and STS as mortality predictors in patients undergoing TAVI

The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and EuroSCORE II scores effectively predict mortality in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). Both scores demonstrated significant predictive power for in-hospital and 30-day mortality in this study.

- In-hospital mortality was 10.1%, 30-day mortality was 13.5%.
- Higher STS and EuroSCORE II scores were observed in non-survivors (p<0.001). STS AUC=0.81, EuroSCORE II AUC=0.77; no significant difference in discrimination (p=0.72).
Conclusions:
- STS and EuroSCORE II scores are significant predictors of mortality after TAVI.
- These scores can aid in risk assessment for patients undergoing TAVI for severe aortic stenosis.
