    Background:

    • Understanding cytokine regulation is crucial for immune system modulation.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the effects of phenotropil on cytokine profiles (IL-1β, IL-4, IL-6).
    • To evaluate phenotropil's efficacy in counteracting cyclophosphamide-induced immunosuppression.
    • To assess phenotropil's impact on LPS-induced immune hyperreactivity.

    Main Methods:

    • Wistar male rats (aged 6-8 months) were used.
    • Animals were divided into groups: intact, treated with cyclophosphamide or LPS, and treated with phenotropil alongside these agents.
    • Serum cytokine levels were quantified using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

    • Phenotropil administration largely restored decreased IL-1β, IL-4, and IL-6 levels in cyclophosphamide-treated rats.

    • It can effectively restore cytokine balance in conditions of both immune deficiency and overactivity.
    • Further research into phenotropil's therapeutic potential in immune-related disorders is warranted.
