Observation:

  • A 56-year-old woman presented with recurrent, round, erythematous lesions on her palms and soles.
  • These lesions consistently appeared after metformin exposure and resolved upon drug discontinuation.
  • The Naranjo scale indicated a definite association between metformin and FDE in this patient.

Findings:

  • This case report adds to the scarce literature on metformin-induced fixed-drug eruptions.
  • The patient experienced characteristic FDE lesions attributed to metformin use.

Implications:

  • Clinicians should consider metformin as a potential cause of FDEs in patients presenting with suggestive skin lesions.
  • Increased awareness of metformin-associated FDEs is crucial for accurate diagnosis and management.
