Background:

Severe coxofemoral osteoarthrosis presents a significant challenge in canine patients.
Previous treatments including medication and pectineal myectomy provided limited symptom relief.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the efficacy of total hip replacement in managing severe coxofemoral osteoarthrosis in a canine patient.

Main Methods:

A seven-year-old Samoyed diagnosed with severe coxofemoral osteoarthrosis underwent total hip replacement surgery.
The patient had previously received conservative treatments without substantial benefit.

Main Results:

Following total hip replacement, the dog exhibited rapid improvement in demeanor and limb function.
This positive outcome was consistently maintained throughout a twelve-month follow-up period.

Conclusions:

Total hip replacement is a viable and effective surgical option for alleviating severe coxofemoral osteoarthrosis in dogs.
The procedure offers significant and lasting improvement in quality of life for affected canine patients.
