Summary

A rare case of thyroid angiosarcoma invading the trachea was successfully treated. This successful surgical resection offers hope for patients with this aggressive vascular tumor.

Background:

Thyroid angiosarcoma is a rare and aggressive vascular malignancy.
Tracheal invasion by thyroid tumors is uncommon and presents diagnostic and therapeutic challenges.

Observation:

A 48-year-old woman presented with hemoptysis due to a thyroid mass invading the trachea.
Imaging revealed a vascularized tracheal mass, confirmed as angiosarcoma via biopsy.
Surgical resection was performed by the otolaryngology department.

Findings:

Pathological evaluation confirmed primary thyroid angiosarcoma with tracheal invasion.
The patient experienced no recurrence two years post-surgery, indicating a favorable outcome.
Complete tumor resection was achieved.

Implications:

This case highlights the possibility of successful surgical management for rare thyroid angiosarcomas with tracheal invasion.
Early diagnosis and aggressive surgical intervention are crucial for improving prognosis.
Further research into multimodal treatment strategies may benefit patients with advanced angiosarcoma.
