Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate eicosanoid metabolism and platelet aggregation in patients with Raynaud's phenomenon and vibration white finger (VWF).
  • To compare these parameters between primary Raynaud's, secondary Raynaud's (to scleroderma), and VWF disease.

Main Methods:

  • Radioimmunoassay was used to measure stable eicosanoid metabolites.
  • Platelet aggregation was measured in response to adenosine diphosphate (ADP), collagen, and adrenaline.

    • The causal relationship between these observed phenomena and vasospasm requires further investigation.
