Abstract:
The influence of atmospheric oxygen upon the healing of large wound areas has once more become a matter for discussion. Local vasoconstriction and the production of oxygen-derived free radicals have now been demonstrated. Recent experiments have shown the different isolation functions of temporary full-thickness and split-skin grafts with regard to topical oxygen.
