  • A cohort of 20 adolescents with severely crowded arches and labially displaced upper canines was selected.
  • Upper first premolars were extracted, and custom casting Nance arches were placed on the upper first molars.
  • Measurements were taken, and fixed orthodontic treatment commenced six months post-extraction; data analyzed using Graphpad Prism 6.0.

Main Results:

  • Significant canine self-adjustment was observed, averaging 3.6±0.1 mm (P<0.01).
