Nursing Process for Patient and Caregiver Teaching II: Planning and Implementation

2.2K
Planning for learning involves the development of a teaching plan. Teaching plans are similar to nursing care plans—both follow the steps of the nursing process. Planning in the teaching process involves setting goals and outcomes. Here, goals identify what a patient needs to achieve to understand a healthcare topic better, whereas the outcomes are the action to be performed by the patient to achieve the goal within a timeframe. For example, if the goal is to educate the patient about...

Fundamentals of Nursing Process II

6.0K
There are several characteristics related to delivering nursing care. One vital characteristic of the nursing process is that it can be used to protect nurses and justify the provided care. Productive use of the nursing process requires the knowledge and skills of nurses to assess and solve issues. Nurses should develop and strengthen their critical thinking skills and evidence-based nursing interventions to improve their skills in formulating nursing care plans. A well-defined approach to...

Nursing Interventions II: Selecting and Classifying the Nursing Interventions

3.6K
Creating and executing a nursing diagnosis helps nurses plan care and guide patient, family, and community interventions. They are developed based on a patient's physical evaluation and support measuring the outcomes. It is not recommended to select random interventions throughout the planning process. Instead, consider the following six essential factors when choosing interventions:

Planning Nursing Care I

6.3K
The planning phase of the nursing process helps nurses set priorities, outline patient-centered goals and expected outcomes, and tailor nursing interventions to align with the aligned care plan. Through the planning phase, the nurse applies critical thinking skills to align and develop interventions according to the patient's needs. It provides continuity of care allowing patients to receive the maximum benefit from treatment. It serves as a pilot plan for allocating individual staff to a...

    Summary

A nursing success strategies course reduced student stress and boosted self-efficacy. However, it only minimally improved student retention, highlighting a need for further intervention development.

    Area of Science:

    • Nursing Education
    • Student Success Strategies

    Background:

    • Addressing the projected nursing shortage requires effective student transition from education to practice.
    • Nursing student success and retention are critical concerns for educators.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the impact of a success strategies improvement course on nursing students.
    • To assess changes in perceived stress, self-efficacy, and retention rates.

    Main Methods:

    • A quantitative research project was conducted.
    • A one-group pre- and posttest design was employed to measure outcomes.

    Main Results:

    • Students reported decreased perceived stress and increased self-efficacy after the course.
    • No correlation was found between age or work hours and retention in this cohort.
