A rare case of primary malignant melanoma of the lung was found in a 30-year-old woman. Surgical removal of the lung mass was successful, offering a potential cure for this uncommon cancer.

Background:

Primary lung melanoma is an exceptionally rare pulmonary neoplasm.
Malignant melanomas typically arise from the skin, but can occur in extrermal sites.

A 30-year-old female presented with a 3 cm pulmonary mass detected via chest X-ray and CT scan.
The mass was located in the lower lobe of the left lung.

Findings:

Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of primary malignant melanoma of the lung.
The resected tumor measured 3 cm in diameter.
