  • 445 patients with chest wall keloids underwent treatment using 4 distinct protocols from 2006-2012.
  • All patients received adjuvant radiotherapy.
  • Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS) evaluated treatment outcomes over a 13-month mean follow-up.

Findings:

  • A low recurrence rate of 0.83% was observed.
  • POSAS scores showed significant improvement (P < 0.001) post-treatment, indicating high satisfaction among both doctors and patients.
  • The individualized algorithm led to satisfactory clinical results.

Implications:

  • This algorithm provides a valuable guide for surgeons treating chest wall keloids.
  • Tailoring treatment based on keloid size and number improves outcomes.
  • Effective management strategies are crucial for improving quality of life in patients with keloids.
