Fundamentals of Nursing Process II

6.0K
There are several characteristics related to delivering nursing care. One vital characteristic of the nursing process is that it can be used to protect nurses and justify the provided care. Productive use of the nursing process requires the knowledge and skills of nurses to assess and solve issues. Nurses should develop and strengthen their critical thinking skills and evidence-based nursing interventions to improve their skills in formulating nursing care plans. A well-defined approach to...

Modeling in Therapy01:26

Modeling in Therapy

652
Modeling, a key technique in therapy, uses observational learning to help clients acquire and practice new skills by watching therapists demonstrate desired behaviors. This approach, rooted in Albert Bandura's concept of vicarious learning, plays a significant role in therapeutic interventions for various psychological conditions, including social anxiety, ADHD, and depression.
Participant Modeling
Participant modeling involves therapists demonstrating calm and effective behaviors in...

Nursing Process for Patient and Caregiver Teaching II: Planning and Implementation

2.2K
Planning for learning involves the development of a teaching plan. Teaching plans are similar to nursing care plans—both follow the steps of the nursing process. Planning in the teaching process involves setting goals and outcomes. Here, goals identify what a patient needs to achieve to understand a healthcare topic better, whereas the outcomes are the action to be performed by the patient to achieve the goal within a timeframe. For example, if the goal is to educate the patient about...

Nursing Implementation01:15

Nursing Implementation

6.5K
Implementation is the execution of the nursing care plan developed during the planning phase.
The five steps to implementing effective nursing care include reassessing the patient, reviewing and revising the existing nursing care plan, organizing the resources and care delivery, anticipating and preventing complications, and implementing nursing interventions.

Nursing Process for Patient and Caregiver Teaching I: Assessment and Diagnosis

2.6K
The nursing process provides a clinical decision-making framework for patients and families to establish and implement a personalized care plan. Since part of the nurse's duties is to teach patients, the steps of the nursing process are the most effective way to approach instruction. The nursing process and the teaching-learning process are inextricably linked.
It is critical to determine the patient's learning needs during the assessment. Determination of learning needs compounds data...

    Area of Science:

    • Nursing Education
    • Simulation-Based Learning
    • Clinical Skills Development

    Background:

    • Initial clinical experiences often induce significant anxiety in nursing students.
    • This anxiety can negatively impact performance and increase patient safety risks.
    • Limited strategies exist in nursing education to mitigate clinical anxiety.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To describe the development and implementation of formative capstone simulation scenarios.
    • To provide novice nursing students with a preparatory experience before their first clinical practicum.
    • To integrate key nursing competencies within a simulated environment.

    Main Methods:

    • A 4-year baccalaureate nursing program faculty developed formative capstone simulation scenarios.
    • Standardized patients were utilized to simulate clinical situations.
    • Scenarios integrated therapeutic communication, patient care skills, and clinical reasoning.

    Main Results:

    • Anecdotal feedback from both students and faculty regarding the simulation scenarios was positive.
    • The formative capstone simulations were well-received by novice nursing students.

    Conclusions:

    • Formative capstone simulation scenarios provide a well-received method for preparing students for clinical practice.
    • Further research is recommended to quantitatively assess the impact of these simulations on student anxiety.
    • Simulation offers a promising avenue for enhancing nursing student readiness and confidence.
