Abstract:
In a case involving a 4-year-old esotrope with retinoblastoma, a federal appellate court has held that, as a matter of law, the standard of care expected of an optometrist requires a dilated fundus examination conducted with the binocular indirect ophthalmoscope at the initial visit and periodically thereafter.
