Cardiovascular disease and cancer under-diagnosed in people over 80
Abstract:
Age is perhaps the most powerful risk factor for cardiovascular disease and cancer. Previous evidence has suggested that risk declines after the age of 80 but this study found that risk continued to increase up to the age of 100. Most new cases of cardiovascular disease are not detected until after death and reduced screening in advanced age may also mean that many cancers are undetected.
