Background:

Interferon beta-1b is a common treatment for multiple sclerosis.
Postmenopausal bleeding requires evaluation for endometrial carcinoma, though benign causes exist.
Rare cases of premenopausal bleeding have been linked to interferon beta-1b.

Observation:

This study reports a case of postmenopausal bleeding in a patient receiving interferon beta-1b.
A literature search revealed no prior reports of postmenopausal bleeding associated with this therapy.

Findings:

The patient's postmenopausal bleeding was attributed to elevated serum estradiol levels.
Interferon beta-1b therapy was associated with these elevated estradiol levels.

Implications:

Awareness of this potential side effect is crucial for both patients and healthcare providers.
This association may warrant further investigation into the endocrinological effects of interferon beta-1b.
Prompt evaluation of postmenopausal bleeding in patients on interferon beta-1b is recommended.
