- A 19-year-old male presented with heart failure symptoms and severe left ventricular dysfunction due to IVNC.
- He developed an anterior wall ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) six months after initial diagnosis and treatment.
Findings:
- Coronary angiography revealed thrombotic occlusion of the left anterior descending artery (LAD).
- The occlusion was successfully treated with tirofiban and heparin, indicating a thromboembolic event.
- This represents the first documented case of coronary thromboembolism secondary to blood stasis in the left ventricle in IVNC.
Implications:
- This case highlights a novel mechanism of myocardial infarction in IVNC patients.
- It suggests that blood stasis in the noncompacted left ventricle may predispose to thromboembolism.
