Epidermal stem cells (EpiSCs) are mainly located at the basal layer of the epidermis. These cells repair minor injuries of the skin and replace dead skin cells.     Background:

    • Cicatricial ectropion results from scar contraction after trauma, burns, or surgery, affecting eyelid shape and position.
    • Ectropion incidence after eyelid lesion removal ranges from 2.5% to 7%.
    • Various surgical techniques exist, often incorporating fat grafts for orbital reconstruction.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate autologous fat grafting as a standalone procedure for correcting cicatricial lower eyelid ectropion.

    Main Methods:

    • Two male patients with cicatricial lower eyelid ectropion underwent lipofilling as the sole surgical intervention.
    • Patients were treated in two stages and followed for 12 months post-procedure.

    Main Results:

    • Lipofilling demonstrated excellent outcomes in correcting cicatricial ectropion.
    • Successful scar release was achieved with no recurrence observed during the follow-up period.

    Conclusions:

    • Autologous fat grafting is a safe and effective alternative for cicatricial ectropion.
