Establishing reference intervals for hCG in postmenopausal women

The prevalence of positive human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in women over 55 is 8%. This study confirms a 14.0 IU/L cutoff is appropriate and that follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) does not predict hCG levels in this age group.
