  • Retrograde urethrocystography identified a subcutaneous perineal saccular structure linked to the intrapelvic urethra.
  • The saccular structure was associated with urolithiasis and comprised two distinct components upon surgical excision and histopathological examination.

Findings:

  • Histopathology confirmed an incomplete urethral duplication lined by transitional epithelium and a separate dermoid cyst containing adnexal structures (hair follicles, glands).
  • The diagnosis was an incomplete urethral duplication with a dermoid cyst, leading to concurrent obstructive urolithiasis.
  • This represents the first reported instance of this specific combination of congenital anomalies and secondary urolithiasis in a canine patient.

Implications:

  • Surgical excision of congenital urinary tract anomalies can lead to successful outcomes and resolution of obstructive urolithiasis.
