  • To examine individual and co-occurring risk factors for health outcomes in persons with multiple sclerosis (MS).
  • To investigate the association between nutrition, physical activity, and neuroperformance in MS.

  • Sixty-nine participants with MS were assessed.
  • Measures included nutrition, physical activity, comorbidity, and neuroperformance.
  • Data were analyzed using t-test analyses.

Main Results:

  • A cluster of poor nutrition and insufficient physical activity was associated with increased comorbidities and poorer neuroperformance.
  • Significant differences were observed in comorbidities, cardiovascular disease symptoms, Timed 25-Foot Walk speed, and 6 Minute Walk distance.
  • Having two risk factors (poor diet and low physical activity) showed stronger associations with negative health markers compared to one.

Conclusions:

  • Co-occurring poor diet and insufficient physical activity are linked to comorbidities and neuroperformance deficits in MS.
  • These lifestyle factors synergistically impact health outcomes in individuals with MS.
