Background:

Nurses require training in interprofessional research, evidence-based practice (EBP), and quality improvement (QI).
Undergraduate nursing students need exposure to advanced nursing roles and research methodologies.

Purpose of the Study:

To describe a 10-week summer research program for undergraduate nursing students.
To enhance students' skills in research participation, interprofessional collaboration, and EBP integration.

Main Methods:

Students participated in diverse clinical and translational research projects.
Each student was mentored by three nurses in roles including nurse researcher, advanced practice nurse (APN) in EBP/QI, and clinical trials nurse.
Students engaged in three distinct research projects.

Main Results:

Students demonstrated measurable improvement in program objectives.
The program facilitated interdisciplinary learning and active research involvement for students.
Mentors and participating organizations also benefited from the program.

Conclusions:

The summer research program effectively prepared undergraduate nursing students for future roles in research and EBP.
Exposure to interprofessional research and advanced nursing roles is crucial for nursing workforce development.
