Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy of a specific morcellator device (Piranha™) in managing BPO.
  • To compare the performance of disposable versus reusable morcellator blades.
  • To assess the impact of different morcellation speeds (850 vs. 1500 rpm) on tissue removal rates.

Main Methods:

  • A prospective randomized study involving 48 patients with symptomatic BPO.
  • Patients underwent Thulium laser enucleation followed by mechanical morcellation using the Piranha™ device.
  • Blades were either disposable or reusable, and morcellation speeds were set at 850 or 1500 rpm.
