Summary
Vascular steal syndrome caused sacral ulcer flap reconstruction failure. Successful healing of ischemic sacral ulcers was achieved only after aorto-iliac reconstruction in patients with aortic occlusion.
Area of Science:
- Vascular Surgery
- Plastic Surgery
- Wound Healing
Background:
- Sacral ulcers can be challenging to treat, often requiring complex reconstructive surgery.
- Vascular complications, such as steal syndromes, can lead to flap failure in reconstructive procedures.
- Aortic occlusion can significantly alter blood flow dynamics and compromise tissue perfusion.
