Factor Structure of Rotter's I-E Scale in Female Polish University Students
1a Louisiana Tech University , USA.
Abstract:
Rotter's (9) Internal-External Locus of Control Scale was translated into Polish and administered to 199 female Polish university students. Item responses were intercorrelated and factor analyzed. Findings were compared to results previously obtained for a female American university student sample. Consistent with hypotheses, two factors were obtained: a Political Control Factor and a Personal Control Factor. These factors were found to be thematically and quantitatively similar to two factors obtained for the American sample. Polish and American female university students appear to enploy similar dimensions regarding the meaning of locus of control. The effects of the university educational process, as well as similarities between Polish and American cultures, were considered as potential contributors to these findings.
