Summary

The hot weather infantry boot (HWIB) lasted five months in elite training and caused fewer injuries than the newly designed Israeli infantry boot (NDIB). NDIBs led to more foot injuries and were quickly abandoned by recruits.

  • To evaluate the initial performance and identify issues with newly designed Israeli infantry boots (NDIB).

  • Durability of HWIB was assessed over 64 weeks in 67 recruits, examining wear and tear.
  • Foot injuries were evaluated in 73 recruits using HWIB.
  • Performance of NDIB was assessed in 65 recruits, including foot measurements and problem documentation.
