[RNA synthesis and function of rDNA inAcheta domesticus (L.)]

Abstract:
Supplementary RNA genes synthesize very little RNA in oocytes at the end of pachytene, and most actively in oocytes at mid diplotene. At this time of oogenesis numerous single nucleoli are formed. In the course of vitellogenesis the rate of rRNA synthesis decreases significantly. Eggs with one to four nuclei no longer contain the supplementary rDNA.Oocytes of late pachytene to beginning diplotene form much RNA of small molecular weight.During vitellogenesis none of the RNA synthesized in the follicular cells is transferred to the oocytes.

RNA is the Missing Link Between DNA and Proteins
In the early 1900s, scientists discovered that DNA stores all the information needed for cellular functions and that proteins perform most of these functions. However, the mechanisms of converting genetic information into functional proteins remained unknown for many years. Initially, it was believed that a single gene is...
Ribosomal RNA Synthesis
Ribosome biogenesis begins with the synthesis of 5S and 45S pre-rRNAs by distinct RNA polymerases. The primary transcripts are extensively processed and modified before they are bound and folded by ribosomal proteins and assembly factors,...
