The charcoal effect in Boreal forests: mechanisms and ecological consequences

Freshly produced charcoal from wildfires can rejuvenate Boreal forests by improving soil properties and promoting tree seedling growth. Charcoal addition enhances nutrient uptake and plant growth, especially in ericaceous-dominated soils.
