Liver transplantation using IGL-1 preservation solution is safe. Prolonged warm ischemic time (WIT) is a key predictor of graft failure within 90 days after liver transplantation (LT).

Background:

  • Limited studies exist on liver transplantation (LT) outcomes using Institutes Georges Lopez-1 (IGL-1) preservation solution.
  • Identifying negative predictors for LT with IGL-1 can guide strategies for high-risk recipients.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the safety and outcomes of LT using IGL-1 preservation solution.
  • To identify predictors of early graft failure in LT recipients preserved with IGL-1.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective review of 100 adult patients undergoing first whole-graft LT with IGL-1 (2013-2016).
  • Primary endpoint: graft failure within 90 postoperative days (PODs).
  • Analysis included graft loss due to any cause, including death with a functioning graft.

  • Early identification of prolonged WIT may help mitigate risks in LT recipients.
