Summary

This study found that the herbal medicine Safoof akseer e jigar is as effective and safer than the allopathic drug Interferon Alpha for treating hepatitis B. Both treatments showed significant improvement in patients with the viral infection.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Safoof akseer e jigar compared to allopathic medicine (Interferon Alpha) for hepatitis B.
  • To assess the relationship between disease, symptoms, and patient/clinical response.
  • To provide better management strategies for hepatitis B.

Main Methods:

  • A single-blind, randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted.
  • Patients aged 25-50 diagnosed with hepatitis B were enrolled.
  • Efficacy and safety were compared between the test drug (Safoof akseer e jigar) and the control drug (Interferon Alpha).

Main Results:

  • No significant difference in efficacy was found between Safoof akseer e jigar and Interferon Alpha.
  • Hepatitis B turned negative in 57.77% of patients on Interferon Alpha and 64.28% on Safoof akseer e jigar.
  • Both treatments showed significant improvement (p>0.05), with the test drug demonstrating superior safety.

Conclusions:

  • Safoof akseer e jigar is as effective as allopathic medicine in treating hepatitis B.
  • The herbal formulation shows a better safety profile.
  • This supports the therapeutic value of Safoof akseer e jigar as an alternative hepatitis B treatment.
