Summary

A girl developed dark facial pigmentation, initially suspected to be from malaria treatment. Investigation revealed it was caused by applying lead pencil powder, an unusual case of pseudochromhidrosis.

Facial pigmentation can have various causes, including medication side effects.
Distinguishing exogenous from endogenous causes is crucial for diagnosis.

A young girl presented with dark blue-black smoky facial pigmentation.

Findings:

Histology showed yellow-brown granules in the stratum corneum.
Observation revealed the patient applied lead pencil powder to her face.

Implications:

This case highlights an unusual presentation of pseudochromhidrosis.
It underscores the importance of thorough patient history and observation in diagnosis.
