The Sevan trout (Salmo ischchan) introduced to Kyrgyzstan persists, showing genetic divergence from its native Armenian population. Hatcheries may preserve genetic diversity, but wild populations faced past bottlenecks, necessitating urgent conservation for the native Lake Sevan stock.
