Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the impact of different surgical treatments on oncological outcomes in epithelioid sarcoma patients.
  • To compare limb salvage surgery versus amputation in terms of local recurrence, metastasis, and survival.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of 54 epithelioid sarcoma patients treated between 1985-2012 at two international centers.
  • Data collection included patient demographics, tumor characteristics, surgical procedures (limb salvage vs. amputation), adjuvant radiotherapy, and oncological outcomes.
  • Multivariate analysis was performed to identify factors influencing survival and metastasis.

Main Results:

  • Of 49 surgically treated patients, 38 underwent limb salvage and 11 amputation.
