- Initial ultrasonography showed hepatosplenomegaly with fusiform dilatation of the extrahepatic portal vein.
Findings:
- Contrast-enhanced CT confirmed the diagnosis of a portal vein aneurysm.
- Portal vein aneurysms are increasingly diagnosed with advancements in cross-sectional imaging.
Implications:
- Accurate diagnosis of portal vein aneurysms is essential to prevent misidentification with other periportal cystic masses.
- Improved diagnostic capabilities aid in differentiating aneurysms from various etiologies, particularly on sonography.
